Reading Time: 3 minutes

She wrote:

I woke up with light contractions at 7 A.M. ( 23 May 2019). I have never had cramps a day in my life so I took a shower and packed a bag for myself.
With my packed bags, I then drove from New Jersey to my mother’s home with heavy traffic and light contractions. I got to my mother’s house at 9:03 A.M, my contractions were getting a little intense so we drove to the hospital to see if my cervix was open and to find out if I was dilated, in the midst of this, I called my midwife and explained what was going on she as asked that we go to the Brooklyn birth center.

2 – 3 Centimeter Dilated

I  got to the Brooklyn Birth Centre at 12:10 and when I got checked, I was only 2-3 CM dilated.
I took a walk around the block, went up the stairs, and kept holding on to the pain for as much as I could’ve. At 3:20 P.M. My midwife checked again my cervix and said I was 90% effaced and 5 CM dilated. (Effacement is the thinning of the cervix, which is measured in percentages. When you’re 100 percent effaced, your cervix has thinned enough for your baby to be born. Dilated is when your cervix openWhen labor begins, the cervix dilates, widening up to 10 centimeters (cm) over time?0
At 4:50 P.M. I asked to go to the room and get in the tub. I had no medicine to control my pain and started shifting my body left to right with hot water running. My water broke finally at 5.20 P.M but alas, my baby had pooped in the sac. The midwife took me out of the tub and checked me, I was 7 CM dilated. At 5:30 PM.  I went back in the water and the midwife informed me that the baby pooped in the sac, this is medically known as Meconium Aspiration. The inhaled meconium can partially or completely block the baby’s airways.

Do you want me to call the ambulance?

The midwife then asked “do you want me to call the ambulance and we go straight to the hospital or do you want to try and push. If he doesn’t come out within the next 30 mins to an hour we will have to rush to the hospital“
I SAID NO HES COMING OUT ‼️19 mins later I don’t know how I did it but I naturally pushed that baby right on out. I really couldn’t believe I had the strength and power to do that but I DID ♥️‼️
My first child, Naidam was born at 5:49 P.M. MAY 23, 2019 by unmedicated water birth.
