Babymoon in HAWAII
Babymoon: Everything About HAWAII Was Perfect! – Laura “prbossbabe” Gimbert.
Laura “prbossbabe” Gimbert and husband who are expecting a babygirl, recently had their babymoon in Hawaii. She shares some her babymoon adventures with us. Enjoy!
At what week of pregnancy did you take this trip?
I was 31 weeks pregnant at the time.
Your babymoon destination and why?
We decided to travel to Maui, Hawaii, for our babymoon mainly because we wanted a tropical destination where we could relax yet explore and have a bit of adventure too (in a safe-pregnant way!). We also needed to stay national, as I couldn’t fly internationally during my third trimester, and it’s safer to stay local anyways, just in case. We live in Los Angeles and the flight to Hawaii is direct, and pretty easy, not like we were coming from the East coast, so it just all made sense!
How long was the plane trip and how did you cope with flying during pregnancy?
The flight from Los Angeles to Maui was five hours (four hours on our return trip) so it was very easy. I never got to the point where I was uncomfortable. I made sure I drank a lot of water before and during, as well as walked up and down the plane at least once an hour during the duration of the flight, which helped with circulation & inflammation. I also stretched well before and after, and bought healthy snacks to bring on board, so I had good healthy food to rely on (nuts, fruit & yogurt mainly).
How long was your babymoon vacation?
Exactly a week! Perfect time to see everything, relax fully, and get back to reality purely refreshed.
How would you describe your babymoon experience?
Exploring the Island all day to come back to a luxury 5 star hotel (Four Seasons Maui), get pampered at the SPA and have a great room service experience with my husband every night, for a week: perfection!
Fun things to do at this destination
The Island is just stunning, so my favorite thing to do was just get lost & explore it all. We rented a jeep convertible and beach hopped, discovered local places and had amazing fresh fish everyday. I loved watching the sun set in a different location every night, it was magical. And nothing beats an amazing prenatal SPA session at the Four Seasons after the whole day cruising around!
Which of these activities did you enjoy more?
Definitely discovering spots on our own and cruising around the Island with the jeep, sunshine on our face, wind in our hair, and good music! So fun and a great bonding time with the hubby.
Things to know about this destination
The main resorts, including ours, are located in Wailea, which is amazing, but I’d totally recommend renting a car and exploring the rest of the island. North Shore is perfect for surfing (if your husband is looking for a bit of action, giving you an excuse to lay, tan & read a book, ha!). Makena, Big Beach & Lahaina are my favorite beaches. I’d also recommend doing some pregnancy shoots while you are there, nothing beats that scenery, you wont regret it!
Some of the amenities you enjoyed?
Staying at a luxury resort also makes the trip way better, we enjoyed all of the hotel’s amenities including their 5-star breakfast buffet, their adult-only ocean-front infinity pool, their SPA services (I got the best pregnancy massage!), the amazing suite… and overall unbeatable hospitality service. You feel pampered and like a princess, which is exactly what you need before welcoming the newborn!

Funniest thing that happened to you during your babymoon?
I got stuck in a rip current (nothing major, VERY close to the sand). With my bump I felt a bit less agile than normal, and I was laughing so hard I just couldn’t get out of the water. Luckily only my husband saw that, he was laughing harder than me! Ha.
5 essentials to pack for your babymoon and why?
— Cute dresses: comfy but that show off your bump
— A good camera: you’ll want those memories for life!
— Good sunscreen, after sun & lotion (with the growing belly, you’ll want to take extra care of your skin to avoid stretch marks & sun spots)
– -Great books: any type of books are good of course, but I’d definitely recommend also starting to read pregnancy & delivery books, as it’s the perfect down-time to do so.
— Prenatal vitamins & vitamin C: I take vitamin c when I travel to keep my immune system strong, specially while pregnant, since it weakens and I tend to have less greens.
Your babymoon was during the fall season, would this have been a good babymoon destination during the summer months for instance?
Hawaii is the perfect destination year-round since the weather is always great! I would just avoid going during big holidays (like Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc) as the islands get fully-packed then.
5 Keys to a fantastic babymoon?
— Book some SPA sessions before hand
— Book ONE nice dinner before hand (everything else I recommend going with the flow and doing tons of room service!)
— Book a NICE hotel/resort, it’s SO worth it!!!
– -Book a convertible (feeling the wind & sunshine on your hair is such a nice feeling on vacation!)
– -Relax!!!
On a scale of 1 – 10 with 10 being the most positive, would you recommend this destination to other expectant mamas?
10! It’s just perfect, enough to do and explore, yet the best place to relax at.
