Giving birth is an imperative decision each woman needs to make as it is a life-changing experience that could be either to improve a thing or make it worse. However, a few ladies might not be fortunate to conceive without having complications and experiencing surgery can be stressful for babies. At four months pregnant, Margaret Hawkins Boemer went for a routine ultrasound and found out that her daughter, Lynlee Hope, had a tumor on her spine known as a sacrococcygeal teratoma, which was diverting blood from the foetus, raising the danger of deadly heart failure. Shockingly, this was not the first terrible news of Boemer’s pregnancy. Initially, she had been pregnant with twins, yet lost one of the babies before her second trimester.
Dr. Darrell Cass, co-director of Texas Children’s Fetal Center and co-professor of surgery, obstetrics, and gynecology, and pediatrics at Baylor College Medicine who was taking care of Margaret said that the sacrococcygeal teratoma is the most widely recognized tumor which can be found in a baby; however, it is still uncommon. Baby Lynlee weighed only 1lb 3oz (0.53kg) when surgeons opened the womb and at that point, the tumour was almost bigger than the baby. During the five hour surgery, LynLee’s heart virtually stopped during the process but a heart specialist kept her alive while the majority of the tumour was removed. Then at that point, the team then placed her back in her mother’s womb and sewed her uterus up. Mrs. Boemer spent the following 12 weeks on bed-rest, and Lynlee was conceived again for the second time on 6 June through Caesarean section at almost full term, weighing 5Ib and 5oz, and named after both of her grandmothers. Instantly, the hospital staff whisked the baby away to the NICU for an assessment, yet after this initial checkup, she was considered sound and taken to the nursery.
The moment when Lynlee was eight days old, a further surgery helped remove the remaining tumour from her tailbone which surgeons couldn’t reach earlier and afterward she recovered completely in the recovered in the NICU and weeks after, arrived in her family home. Lynlee would need to keep on returning to Texas Children’s Hospital for regular checkups. This uncommon tumour known as Sacrococcygeal teratoma affects baby girls four times more often than boys and baby lynlee was strong enough to have survived it even though it was very difficult for her mother. She is about seven years now and perfectly living that dream life every girl wants to live without any health problem.

Ways To Soothe Heartburn and Acid Reflux During Pregnancy By Delia Muhammed.
Acid reflux also known as heartburn is a burning sensation in the chest.
Most people find it unpleasant as this burning sensation can go on for days. For some people, antacids provide some form of relief, for others, the discomfort lasts much longer.
What causes acid reflux (also known more as heartburn) during pregnancy?
The hormones in the body of a pregnant woman soften all of the organs. This means that the organs are no longer firm as it allows for the growth of the baby in the womb.
After you eat, your food moves through the gastrointestinal tract also know as the digestive system.
Food passes through the digestive system in the following order: Mouth, Esophagus, Stomach, Intestines ( small/ large), and Rectum.
The esophagus is the path from the mouth to the stomach. Once the food enters the esophagus, the hydrochloric acid in the stomach will start to bubble; at the end of the esophagus there is a ring-like muscle called a sphincter, it is the ‘door’ that opens for food and closes when the food enters the stomach to be dissolved.
During pregnancy, with organs being soft, the sphincter may not close securely to stop the hydrochloric acid in the stomach to rise up into the esophagus. This is what results in acid reflux/heartburn.
It is mostly after meals that this acid reflux experience will occur, so eating large meals can worsen the reflux symptoms. Belching/ burping or vomiting, tells you the sphincter is open.
Minimizing the Occurrence of Acid Reflux
Here are some tips that you can try to minimize or alleviate Acid Reflux.
1⃣ Try not to overeat, avoid large meals.
2⃣ Chew the food right down into small pieces (mushy) before swallowing.
The body is working hard at maintaining and sustaining a baby. Digesting food takes energy too. So, by chewing the food right down, the body has less work to do.
3⃣ Blending certain foods might be a better way of ingesting if chewing is too much.
4⃣ Don’t eat late. A couple of hours before going to bed. It sounds harsh as cravings could be the order of the day. Depending on what was eaten, always give your body time to digest the food.
5⃣ Avoid drinking carbonated fluids. Having fruit juices and water might be better.
However, citrus drinks and juices such as apple and pineapple juice can cause reflux due to their high acidity. Herbal teas are fine.
6⃣ Drink from a straw, so you can control how much you swallow at a time.
7⃣ Assess the types of drinks that can cause heartburn. Ensure you monitor what you drink, how much you are drinking, and at what time.
8⃣ Feeling nauseous can be a symptom of acid reflux.
9⃣ Try not to lie flat. Elevating the head of your bed or sleeping with more pillows is an effective way to reduce the symptoms at night.

Trying For A Baby? 5 Signs of Ovulating!
The best way to improve your chances of getting pregnant is to understand the optimal time to have unprotected intercourse. Listed below are things to look out for to determine when the body is preparing to move into the most fertile time of the month.
- Record your menstrual cycle
Keep a menstrual calendar for a few months so you can get an idea of when you will ovulate. Ovulation usually occurs around 12 to 14 days before your next period so you will need to know when your period usually start and stop.
2. Check your cervix
Check your cervix daily using one or two finger. At the height of ovulation, the cervix becomes so soft that it blends in with the vagina walls and rises so high that the finger cannot touch it. This is known as SHOW – soft, high, open and wet. This is your most fertile time as the uterine is open to allow sperm to enter in.
3. Check your cervical mucus
Cervical mucus is a fluid secreted by the cervix, the production of which is stimulated by the hormone estrogen. You are most fertile when your cervical mucus is “egg white”, as it allows sperm to swim easily into the cervix. Egg white cervical mucus (EWCM), is thin, clear and stretchy, you could pull it into a string long before it breaks.
4. Look out for backache or tummy pain
The pain can be a dull cramp or a sharp and sudden twinge and is felt on the right or left side, depending on which ovary is releasing an egg. Some women notice a little vaginal bleeding when it happens.
5. Increased Libido
As ovulation approaches, women often feel an increase in sex drive. Some people believe this is a biologically designed way to ensure reproduction.
In addition to these ovulation symptoms, some women may also notice an increase in basal metabolic temperature and spotting around this time of the month.
