Rainbow Babies
These Rainbow Babies Are Twin Sisters.
Kalani and Jarani Dean are biracial twins who were born to a Caucasian mother and an African-American father. Also, each girl has a different skin tone. The twins are dizygotic or fraternal, meaning they developed from two different eggs and sperm cells. That separation allowed them to inherit their own individual combinations of genes from Mom and Dad. In conclusion, one had a light complexion like her mom and the other had a darker complexion like her dad.
But that’s not all. Twins are rainbow babies (a term used to describe ey Meyer, who considers them to be a “miracle”). Her son Pravyn Meyer passed away in a drowning accident at his daycare pool when he was 2 years old. 18 months later, Whitney got pregnant with the twins. Pravyn’s skin tone was mixed while her oldest son, Talan Meyer, has light skin. According to Fox 5 NY News, who interviewed the family, “she loves that each daughter resembles one of their brothers.”
To celebrate the hope the twins brought after this devastating loss, they posed with colorful headpieces in front of a rainbow of flowers in a special photoshoot by Photographer Mary-Kathryn Nourse of Elite Photography.
