Vivian Wahyon Bump Style: Simple, Sexy, Stylish, and Comfortable.
Fashion and Lifestyle Enthusiast, Vivian Wahyon who welcomed a cute baby boy just this past week, walks us through her pregnancy wardrobe trimester by trimester.
Enjoy!
I would describe my pregnancy style as simple, sexy, stylish and comfortable. As a stay at home mom with a baby on the way, I am all about saving so what I did in my first trimester was to shop out of my closet. My pre-pregnancy outfits varied in sizes, I wear a small, medium and sometimes large depending on how I want the cut and fitting to look on my body.
In my second trimester, my bump started to peep out. I then wore pieces from my closet that are stretchy and fun while accommodating my baby bump. Around this time, I found leggings, midi dresses and skirts more comfortable, I also found myself wearing more of the medium sizes from my closet.
Style tip: Now that my bump was beginning to show more ( I eat a lot haha!) I opted for more of my fitted looks that were comfortable instead of the loose fitting clothing. I did this to create an illusion of my body looking smaller and focusing more on my bump which is my greatest accessory.
By the third trimester, I started needing maternity jeans because my regular jeans could not fit. Instead of actual maternity jeans, I turned to wearing leggings and I could still get away with stretchy dresses.
My 3 must have maternity accessories will definitely be leggings, midi skirts and dresses because of how comfortable they are and mainly because they are fun to wear. The stretchiness accentuates the bump without making you look bigger then you truly are. I remember my girlfriends asking me why do I always wear fitted dresses? I told them that I wanted the “world” to know that I am expecting a baby.
To be honest I wouldn’t wear anything I can not move in. My biggest of all is staying comfortable.
To expecting moms out there, if you are trying to save a few bucks like myself, always try to shop in your closet first. I wore a lot of things out of my closet and bought a few non-maternity clothing as my bump grew bigger and when the season changed.
I really like the idea of non maternity clothing mainly because I am still able to wear these pieces post pregnancy, unlike actual maternity clothing ( which I did not buy). By the time the temperature dropped in November, I had my chunky knit sweaters and the leggings came in handy to keep me warm.
In short, it was really easy for me to transition my pre-pregnancy style to pregnancy style because, I already had different sizes in my closet.
My advise will be, wear pieces that looks and feel good on your body while accommodating the bump. It is also important to wear clothing that you can breathe in, and are able to move in easily.
